Statutes adopted at the constitutive assembly held in Casablanca on 11 June 2022.

Chapter I — Establishment, headquarters and objectives

Article 1

An association is hereby established under the name National Association of Moroccan Rural Geographers, known by the acronym ANAGERM (جوجام). It is a scientific association endowed with legal personality and financial autonomy, governed by Dahir No. 1-58-376 of 15 November 1958, as amended and supplemented by Law 75.00.

Article 2

The duration of the association is unlimited. It is composed of founding members and ordinary members.

Article 3

The provisional headquarters is located at the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences of Ben M'Sik, Casablanca. It may be transferred to any other city by decision of the Executive Board.

Article 4

The association does not engage in any political or profit-making activity. Its objectives are:

4.1 — General objectives

  • Produce, disseminate and popularize scientific knowledge in rural geography and its intersections with the social and natural sciences.
  • Contribute to studies, research and reports on rural areas.
  • Build partnerships with national and international institutions and associations.
  • Maintain a website to ensure communication and outreach.

4.2 — Specific objectives

  • Regularly organize national and international scientific events on rural geography.
  • Disseminate methodological advances through publications for practitioners and researchers.
  • Publish a peer-reviewed scientific journal (electronic and/or print) dedicated to rural geography.
  • Organize national and international scientific field trips to study rural space transformations.

Chapter II — Membership

Article 5. The association is composed of founding members and ordinary members.

Article 6. The Executive Board may grant Honorary Member status to any person or entity having rendered outstanding services.

Article 7. Membership is forfeited upon death, resignation, failure to pay fees for two consecutive years, or expulsion for reasons contrary to the association's objectives.

Article 8. No member may be held personally liable for the association's commitments.

Chapter III — Governing bodies

Article 9. The organs are: the General Assembly, the Administrative Committee, the Executive Board.

Articles 10 to 15. The General Assembly is validly constituted by an absolute majority (50% + 1). An Extraordinary General Assembly may be convened at the initiative of the Board or at the request of two-thirds of the members.

Articles 16 to 18. The Administrative Committee is elected for three years; it elects the Executive Board which prepares a three-year renewable action plan. The President may not serve more than two consecutive terms.

Article 19. The Executive Board consists of a president, vice-president, secretary-general, treasurer and advisors. The editor-in-chief of the journal is appointed from among the advisors.

Articles 20 to 24. The president represents the association; the treasurer keeps the accounts; the editor-in-chief manages the journal. The Board meets during the first week of each month.

Article 25. Regional branches may be established when conditions allow.

Chapter IV — Financial resources

Article 26. Each member pays an annual fee, not less than MAD 200 per year for regular members and MAD 50 for students.

Article 27. Upon dissolution, the association's assets are transferred to organizations pursuing similar objectives.
